Graphics Design project for Walt Disney hand printed silk scarves and ties
As always creativity is needed in a hurry. When the delivery is done, it's gone to the factory as fast as possible. Time is very much money in the industry. All the above were A3 colour print outs made on our fantastic proprietary Fashion and Textile Design "Colour Matters" software. We took casual photographs for records. These are NOT color scans! At that time big A3 drum scanners were VERY expensive. The themes for these scarves and ties were based on grand ol'fashion travel by boat, train, car, plane, sport, time and destinations. They were printed in China on hand silk screen, therefor the reduced amount of colours. Rarely very commercial prints have more than 7-8 colours. 12 colours takes into a more expensive area. Ever questioned why Hermes scarves are so expensive. They have an average of up to 24 colours. Each color is a screen and takes lots of perfection to place next to he the other colour. The destination market for this extensive collection ( these pictures are only some of it) were International worldwide Airport Duty Free boutiques owned by a reputable Swiss company based in Hong Kong who had struck a deal with Walt Disney. The most interesting part was the approval process of my Artworks. I designed everything, the concept and Mickey & Minnie in my imaginary actions. Then each Mickey & Minnie was retraced to perfection by an accredited Walt Disney cartoonist flown in from Italy who spend several weeks with me in Hong Kong specially for this project. It was amazing to see him at work. It was as if he himself was all Mickey & Minnie. He drew them each time to perfection within minutes. Then it was my turn to retraced them again and colourizing it all. Walt Disney rules are ultra strict but interesting to work with and trying to circumvent. Just as an example. Some of the drawings shown here were amended again at a later stage for very particular reasons. Mickey could not be on the face of the Locomotive as "if it crashes" he would be killed. The travel bar had the prettiest antique glasses and as you see a Champagne bottle. They had to be removed as Mickey does not drink and can't be associated with anything like it. I would love to work for "Warner Bross" sometimes as their characters are quite cheeky and naughty at times :-)interested in more Fashion oriented Design? Visit my very heavy paper Portfolio online, still only an small part of my many years of creativity. http://visualsenses.smugmug.com/PRIVATE-GALLERIES/Couture-Fashion-Design/PUBLIC-Fashion-Design/8915766_xtbhdW#!i=591815195&k=GGYcy If you are Designer you should be interested in "Colour Matters" fashion and textile print Design software. I invite you to experience "Colour Matters" I can do Demos by appointment online. I love it using the "Pantone Textile colours" tm, it is so rewarding! The line, curves, stitching and bending tools are ideal for the Industry and it working on Windows makes it easy.We have several versions ask me. No other software can compete in speed and fashion sense practicality and Colour Matters user friendliness. It also drapes, created repeats, colour films, electronic knitting graft sheets, and much more. I also have used it for Carpet Design and Architectural photo pasting and fast same day illustrations.
